Hello good morning!
Happiness is not so much about money as it is about family and professional satisfaction. Spain is a happy country, despite the problems, especially political ones, reflected this week in the dirty war of the Rajoy government against the Catalan independence movement. The State seems unable to enjoy the happiness of its citizens.
Spain. Pedro Sánchez denounces the use of State resources to persecute the Catalan independence movement. He affirms that the PP plot will be investigated “to the last consequences.” He remains to see how. At the moment, Congress awaits Rajoy’s appearance in the new investigative commission. The Ministry of the Interior, under the direction of Fernández Díaz, also investigated prominent businessmen, such as Sol Daurella, not linked to the process, as well as the attorney general of Catalonia.
Health. The main European hub dedicated to healthcare is in Barcelona. The city has an ecosystem of hospitals, research centers, universities and companies focused on health without comparison in the European Union. Now, we have to make it grow even more.
Technology. The Davos Forum begins with a disturbing report from the IMF: artificial intelligence will destroy 40% of jobs and increase inequality around the world. It is a challenge for the future for institutions and companies.
USA. Donald Trump wins the Iowa caucus, with 51.1% of the votes, as predicted. Ron DeSantis came second with 21.2% and Nikki Halley, third with 19.1%. The electoral wind blows in favor of the former president. Another thing is the judicial system. DeSantis and Halley have a very difficult time trying to unseat him.
Middle East. The Houthis have again launched missiles into the Red Sea. The Navy destroyed one aimed at a destroyer. Another hit the side of a bulk carrier without causing serious damage. After refusing to participate, Spain is now considering sending liaison officers to the allied military mission fighting this threat to global trade.
Family. 44% of Spanish men consider that equality policies discriminate against them. Even so, they dedicate four hours a day to taking care of their children and mothers seven. They also have lower salaries and less possibility of job promotion for dedicating themselves to parenting.
Happiness. Spain is a happy country. This is said by the latest Eurostat survey, which gives Spain a score of 7.1 in happiness, the same as the EU average. The happiest European country is Austria (7.9) and the least is Bulgaria (5.6), which is also the most corrupt.

Cinema. François Hardy, icon of European feminism in the sixties, wants to die. He suffers from terminal cancer and wants to end his days without pain. This is what he has asked President Macron. Tomorrow he turns 80 years old.
Theater. Barcelona has broken the historical record for spectators. Last year, 2.8 million tickets were sold, especially to see musical shows and the Pop Magician show.
Soccer. Yesterday Aitana Bonmatí rescued the battered Barça feeling. The best player of the year, champion of the League, the Champions League and the World Cup, has collected The Best award. She had previously been awarded the Ballon d’Or and the trophies that recognize her as the best player from FIFA and UEFA. A perfect season.
