Russian Consulate security officer died of natural causes

The death of a security officer at the Russian Consulate in New York on Election Day has been attributed to natural causes, the city medical examiner said.

Initial police reports said Cergej Krivov, 63, was beaten in the head and face, but he actually died from hemorrhaging related to a tumor, the Medical Examiner’s Office said.

“This is a natural death,” said Julie Bolcer, spokeswoman for the office. “The ME found no head trauma.”

Krivov was discovered face down in the consulate on East 91st Street on Nov. 8.

The head-trauma information came from preliminary reports, which are the first official documents made during an investigation, police said.

Despite the fact that the office’s findings were just released Tuesday, the NYPD had already closed the case without an official cause of death, stating that Krivov’s demise did not appear to be suspicious.
