The Municipal Police of Madrid are investigating the origin of 200,000 euros in cash, divided into 50 bills, which were seized from a motorcyclist arrested while traveling at high speed in the Hortaleza district.

The agents have opened an investigation to determine if the money has illicit origin, for which they will analyze the information from several cell phones also seized in the operation, police sources tell Efe.

The intervention was carried out on Monday at 7:30 p.m. at number 8 Adela Street; A patrol observed the motorcyclist traveling at high speed, they began to follow him and stopped him on Aldaya Street, the municipal body reported.

After identifying him and searching his belongings, they discovered that the man, in a state of great nervousness, was carrying 200,000 euros in cash in 50 bills in a bag.

When asked about its origin, he stated that it was for the purchase of a luxury car, without specifying where the money had come from.

During the search, an Audi Q5 model car that was driving down the street, upon noticing the police presence, tried to reverse and drive away from the place, but they also managed to stop it.

A Google phone and a portable router were seized from each of them and, according to sources, the contents of the devices will be studied to try to find out the origin of the money.

The motorcycle driver voluntarily accompanied the agents to the police station to count the bills.
