A man has been robbing people as they wait at bus stops, some of them with their wallets in their hands, in several West Side neighborhoods in February, according to police.
In two robberies, the man approached people waiting at bus stops and took items from people’s pockets, according to a police crime alert. In the two other robberies, the man grabbed a wallet from the hands of someone waiting at a bus stop and then ran off.
In one robbery, the man fled in a gray van.
The robberies took place:
- At 3:30 p.m. Feb. 15 in the 3100 block of West Roosevelt Road;
- At 10:45 p.m. Feb. 7 in the 4000 block of West Chicago Avenue;
- At 5:20 p.m. Feb. 7 in the 1100 block of South Kedzie Avenue;
- At 10:48 a.m. Feb. 2 in the 4700 block of West Madison Street.
The robber was described as a black man with black hair, 25 to 35 years old, 5-foot-7 to 6 feet tall and 180 to 200 pounds. In the robbery Feb. 15, he was wearing all black clothing, including a black skull cap, police said.
