It is no secret that society is increasingly aware of the environment. The new generations break in with a change in the ecological conception that allows them to bet practically in an innate way for the preservation of our environment. This new reality has normalized the more responsible use of natural resources, anti-pollution thinking and a series of greener policies that help contain the environmental decline to which we have subjected our planet as a society.

But this paradigm shift, which millions of people around the world already have, is not enough to stop the ecological aggression that is objectively associated with Humanity; Therefore, the concern about this delicate situation is increasingly palpable among the most sensitive citizens. Psychological consultations about this concern have only grown and in 2017 the American Psychological Association gave a name to this new pathology, eco-anxiety.

The news about climate change arouses emotions and feelings that cause great fears. Ecoanxiety is a present ailment that is predicted to have a long journey in the future. A chronic fear of suffering an environmental cataclysm derived from the apparently irrevocable impact of climate change and a concern for the future of oneself and future generations. They are young people who have heard for as long as they can remember that their world is on the brink of collapse, or people who see in extreme heat or drought irrefutable proof that the planet is being destroyed; they feel a chronic fear of suffering the environmental cataclysm.

To delve into this problem that thousands of people around the world are already accusing, La Vanguardia is organizing a round table with experts for next July 28 (10 a.m.). It will be attended by Irene Baños, an expert, on climate change; Silvia Collado, professor of psychology at the University of Zaragoza; and Jordi Domingo, psychiatrist and director of the Nepp Institute. The event will be moderated by the journalist Romina Vallés.
