Deutsche Schule Barcelona quickly became a hallmark of the Catalan capital since its foundation in 1894. Today it continues to serve as an international institution for cultural and linguistic encounters.
Currently, the German School of Barcelona is conceived as an inclusive meeting school for more than 50 different nationalities that offers an education oriented towards a future of opportunities from Kindergarten (from 3 years old) to the International German Abitur. , from which about 115 young people graduate each year and which is equivalent to the Spanish Baccalaureate. Recently, the DSB has revalidated its certificate of excellence by the German Federal Inspection.
From 1st grade onwards, almost all subjects are taught in German and follow the official curriculum of the German Ministry of Education for the Iberian Peninsula region. In addition to German and Spanish, students study English, Catalan and, optionally, also French, and receive a complete and future-oriented training both in mathematics and natural sciences, as well as in the socio-political field in social sciences and humanities. Teaching and coexistence are always guided by the school’s fundamental values: respect, justice and responsibility. DSB provides students with excellent preparation for their future contribution to a better world.
DSB, with the German “Digital School” certificate, is committed to digitalized teaching in accordance with the needs of today’s world, always in balance with analogue teaching and study methods. In addition, the computer science subject is an optional core subject in ESO.
In this sense, it is also worth highlighting the highly qualified teaching team with a multilingual and multicultural background, committed and involved in the numerous projects and activities that aim to address diversity and promote individual talents, such as the Christmas market, exchanges with other schools and trips, international projects such as Model United Nations and debate, entrepreneurship and environmental competitions. The
Numerous student awards reflect the success of the Music School that houses the center in the afternoons.
For boys and girls who do not yet speak German, there is the option of joining Kindergarten or 5th grade after taking a preparatory German course. This access route allows for intensive language learning and progressive integration at later levels.
The excellence of Deutsche Schule is also supported by a great community. Families, students, teachers, collaborators and also alumni work, with involvement, in a democratic environment in which their ideas and suggestions contribute to school development in every way. We cordially invite you to contact us and participate in our open days in February 2024, where you will have the opportunity to discover a place of innovative learning and growth.
