The Juvenile Judge has ordered the internment in a closed regime for two of the five detainees, for an alleged sexual assault against two girls that occurred last Sunday, April 9, in the evening, at number 16 Avenida de Navarra in Logroño, as reported by the TSJR.

In addition, the magistrate, after celebrating the appearances with the five minors, has issued a restraining order and prohibition to communicate with the victims for the other three allegedly involved in the events.

These three minors are still on file, that is, more investigative procedures will be carried out to find out their degree of involvement in the facts denounced.

The five minors have testified throughout the morning before the Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office, after yesterday they were identified and detained by members of the National Police.

The two minors narrated to the Logroño Local Police that they were invited by about 10 or 12 boys, between the ages of 13 and 16, to a ground-floor premises located on Avenida de Navarra. They entered the building around 8:15 p.m., where they were allegedly sexually assaulted.

About an hour and a half later, they met agents of the Logroño Local Police in the vicinity, to whom they reported the events. Apparently, some of the alleged attackers were still in the place where the events occurred, according to what the agents were able to verify.

The minors under 14 years of age allegedly involved in these events have been placed under the guardianship of their parents. The investigation is under summary secrecy and the Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office of La Rioja is in charge of the investigation.

The Minister for Equality, Irene Montero, has denied this Wednesday that there has been a spectacular increase in sexual assaults on minors and has explained that what has increased has been the visibility and denunciation of this type of violence that previously also existed with a “very high prevalence rate”.

This has been argued in an interview on RNE when asked about some of the latest known cases, such as the one that occurred in Logroño. “What is happening is that there is an increase in the visibility and reporting of violence that until now also existed with a very high prevalence rate, but that was not reported and remained invisible because it was embarrassing or scary or because it was more difficult to identify. as what it is”, explained the head of Equality.

For its part, the Logroño City Council has activated the ‘City Mourning Protocol’ against gender violence and has called a rally to take place this Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at the Collaborative Mural against gender violence, located in General Urrutia street. This protocol establishes a collective response of condemnation and denunciation in situations of sexist violence with a great social impact.
