Our free service allows you to look for volunteer opportunities that address the issues close to your heart – arts and culture, animals, the environment, hunger, education, literacy, homelessness and many, many more.

Date Specific Opportunities

Assist at an Annual Meeting

This is a great opportunity to get involved with The Presidents’ Council. Volunteers are needed to assist with duties at their 2017 Annual Meeting, Thursday, March 23, 4:30-8:30pm. Duties to include event set-up and break down, registration/drink tickets, name tag distribution, coat check, and usher. Volunteers should be available the week of March 13-17 for a brief orientation.

 

Big Fun Volunteering at Big Spring

Cleveland Botanical Garden will be transformed into a fantastical world of brightly colored flowers and larger than life ladybugs during their Big Spring event, running Saturday, March 18 through Sunday, April 23. Adults and teen volunteers will have the opportunity to help with their youngest guests learn and enjoy the wonders of springtime through hands-on indoor activities. Volunteers should plan to attend a volunteer orientation on Saturday, March 11, 10am-Noon at the Botanical Garden. Volunteer shifts: Tues-Sat, 9:45am-1:30pm or 1:15-5pm and Sundays, 11:45am-2:30pm or 2:15-5pm.

Enjoy Working with Children?

Adoption Network Cleveland (ANC) is looking for reliable adult volunteers to be Activity/Program Assistants. Volunteers will facilitate activities with children while their adult caregivers are attending ANC’s support groups. The help of volunteers ensures that more families are able to receive their services. Duties include: gathering activity supplies at beginning of service, engaging children in activities, assisting children with dinner/snacks, notifying staff/guardians of any issues that come up, clean-up at end of program. Monthly on Thursday evenings, 6-8:15pm.

 

Companionship Visits Make a Difference

Ohio Living Home Health & Hospice in Willoughby is seeking volunteers to spend time with individuals in conversation, playing a game, listening to music, watching TV together, reading to them or even just holding their hand. Tempobet These visits provide time for the families to break away for an hour or so without the worry of leaving their loved-one alone. Some of the patients have very few visitors or even none at all. An hour visit a week can make all the difference. Flexible hours to meet your schedule.

 

Mentor a High School Student

Lighthouse Inc. believes that mentors can develop a friendship with a student, help him navigate his way through high school and help him shape a successful future. They must know what they are talking about because their program is now in its 8th year! Mentors are paired with a male student from East Technical High School. Volunteer mentors spend a lunch hour together eating lunch, participating in topical group/pair discussion, reading, working on homework, acquiring the skills to help prepare the student for college, career, and life. Weekly every Tuesday from 12-1:30pm.

Keeping it Green in the Discovery Center

The Museum of Natural History believes that even the youngest children benefit from being exposed to the natural world! Smead Discovery Center is the Museum’s hands-on learning center designed for visitors of all ages to enjoy together. In keeping with promoting a green environment, volunteers will help prep donated materials that would have otherwise been thrown out. Trim paper to make it useable, punch out animal shapes from old wallpaper, and cut paper scraps to bookmark shape for bookmark crafts. For those who aren’t good with scissors, there are plenty of toys and puzzles which require regular cleaning. Free Parking and post-event social at ‘Think & Drink with the Extinct’ downstairs at the museum. Only 7 spots left! Wednesday, April 19, 3-6pm.

Are you age 50+ looking to give back to your community? Join our email list so you are the first to know when a new project is scheduled. Then if you are interested, you will be able to register for the event at that time.
