It took several days to know the result of the autopsy. A forensic report that confirmed the suspicions of the investigators of the Mossos d’Esquadra de Manresa who did not quite agree with the version given by the partner of a 31-year-old woman who was four months pregnant and who had been found dead, on May 6 at his home. The man was arrested yesterday accused of the murder of his partner and in the next few hours he will go to court.
The events occurred in a basement on Gaudà street in the Sagrada Familia neighborhood of the capital of Bages. That morning the neighbors woke up to the noise and bustle of police vehicles, ambulances and, they say, the knocking on the door where a young couple had lived for just over a month and a half.
The husband appeared at the house, that’s what he said at the beginning, around six in the morning, partying, and his wife was found dead. She had a blow to the head and there was blood. The man telephoned the Servei d’Emergències Mèdiques (SEM) and the toilets to the Mossos d’Esquadra, who quickly appeared at the property.
The judge on duty authorized the removal of the body and the coroner signed a first report in which he already warned of signs of homicide. In fact, the husband reported right there that he had gone out to a party with his wife, and that she had withdrawn before her because she was tired. That she had spent the night with a friend and that when she returned she had found her dead.
Why not believe him? With no background, no complaints, no incidents related to episodes of sexist violence, the Mossos went ahead with the efforts and the man returned to the ground floor, which, curiously, was empty the next day to go live with some relatives. The neighbors recounted yesterday how after a few hours they saw him load the television and the four things that fit in the small building.
Over the days, the investigators spoke again with the husband’s friend. The man entered into contradictions with the first version of him and had no longer spent the whole night and early morning with the other. Given this new statement, the victim’s husband changed the account of what he had done trying to fit it. But it was already late.
The bodies of the dead speak to forensics and that of the pregnant woman spoke. She said that when the paramedics arrived she had already been dead for several hours. And that in addition to the blow to her head, she had marks on her neck compatible with death by suffocation.
The homicide group of the central metropolitan police region arrested the individual yesterday, who will go to court in the next few hours. The motive for the crime would be related to the man’s suspicions that his wife had started another sentimental relationship.
