After more than 10 months of being shut out of the factory where they make steel airplane brakes, workers at the Honeywell Aerospace factory in Green Island are set to return to work.

The lockout by the company was one of the longest in recent memory. Workers lost not only their paychecks but also health insurance coverage.

Last week, Honeywell announced that it had reached a tentative contract agreement with its unionized employees in Green Island and South Bend, Ind. after  months on on-again-off-again talks.

Honeywell announced Saturday that the contract was approved in a vote by members of the United Auto Workers.

Previous votes had failed.

Honeywell has not said yet when its union workers will return to the factory, which has operated using outsourced workers the entire time of the lockout.
