In an effort to promote healthy lifestyle habits through nutrition and sport, Action Against Hunger has launched the “Race Against Hunger – Healthy Living” project. This project, a variant of the Race Against Hunger that the entity organizes to fight hunger in the world, wants to raise awareness and mobilize students around fundamental nutrition issues.
As Action Against Hunger explains, this activity is designed for educational centers from preschool to high school and consists of two key phases.
The first phase of the project has as its main objective educational awareness. Action Against Hunger offers a series of dynamics designed for each educational stage, which makes it easier for teachers to work with students on topics related to healthy eating and the different types of hunger that affect people around the world.
At a time when malnutrition remains a leading cause of food insecurity, this phase seeks to educate and raise awareness among young people about the importance of maintaining healthy eating habits.
The second phase of the project consists of taking action. In this case, it is divided into two options so that educational centers can choose the one that best suits their needs.
In the first option, the organization of a “Solidarity Race” is proposed. Centers can organize a race on their premises, mobilizing students to play sports and raise funds to combat food insecurity, both nationally and internationally. Action Against Hunger provides the necessary materials, including envelopes to collect donations and materials for the race.
The second option is the “Healthy Snack”. In this case, students are encouraged to bring a healthy snack to school, putting into practice the knowledge acquired in the awareness workshops. During this day, they are encouraged to bring an envelope with a donation that will contribute to the fight against food insecurity.
The “Race Against Hunger – Healthy Living” project is part of World Food Day, celebrated on October 16, a day dedicated to promoting awareness and action around the world to address hunger and ensure healthy eating for everyone.
The fundamental objectives of this project are to promote healthy lifestyle habits and generate values ??such as empathy and solidarity. The project seeks to change the eating habits of young people, since malnutrition not only refers to a lack of food, but also to excessive consumption of unhealthy foods and lack of physical activity.
Through this initiative, students also become aware of the importance of helping those who suffer from hunger, thus fostering empathy and solidarity from an early age.
Action Against Hunger promotes this project as an effective way to combine education, action and solidarity in the fight against hunger and the promotion of health.
