A man killed by the subway in Madrid dies after going down to the tracks to urinate

A 30-year-old man died this Monday morning after being run over by the Madrid metro when he had gone down to the tracks of the Tirso de Molina station supposedly to urinate with another man who was accompanying him.

The accident, the circumstances of which are being investigated, took place around 9:20 a.m. at the aforementioned station. As police sources have told EFE, the main hypothesis being considered is that the two men went down to the tracks to urinate and one of them did not have time to get back on the platform before the subway arrived, so has been overwhelmed.

The Samur-Civil Protection paramedics went to the scene but were only able to certify the death of the man and the City Hall firefighters, for their part, had to remove the body from under the carriages, according to sources from Madrid Emergencies.

Due to the accident, traffic has been interrupted on line 1 for a couple of hours between Sol and Estación del Arte in both directions. Around 11:40 a.m. traffic was re-established.
