The Civil Guard has arrested a man on suspicion of the murder of a woman who appeared dead floating in the waters of Palma’s promenade last summer, under a sailboat. Some tourists reported the macabre discovery when they were walking along this central promenade in Palma in August.

At first, it was thought that it could have been an accidental death by drowning and there was even speculation about the possibility of suicide, but the Civil Guard investigations conclude that the death could have been caused, according to Ultima Hora.

The investigators maintain that the woman was already dead when she fell into the water, so the possibility of accidental drowning and the hypothesis of suicide were ruled out in the initial phase of the investigation. The Civil Guard agents are now trying to find out if the death is a homicide or could be a murder.

After the discovery that death was not due to drowning, an investigation began to determine what the last hours of life of the deceased, a 30-year-old woman, had been like. Several witnesses place her in a betting place and, later on, security cameras record her presence on the Palma promenade.

The cameras show her together with a man, with whom she goes to the area of the pontoons, and it is here where her track is lost. The same cameras recorded the man two hours later. She left the port area alone. From that moment on, nothing is known about the woman until the next day, when two tourists who were walking through this area of Palma report that there is a corpse floating in the water.

The Civil Guard Homicide Group took charge of the case and for months they have analyzed the images from numerous security cameras in the area until they have finally been able to find the suspect, who has been arrested and remains in the premises. of the Civil Guard. The investigation has allowed us to rule out that it was a suicide, as was thought at first.
