The Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia has developed ‘operation Jalleco’, an investigation initiated to clarify a sexual assault committed against a minor, which has resulted in the identification, location and arrest of its alleged perpetrator, for the crimes of sexual assault and child pornography.
In the search carried out at the detainee’s home, the investigators have seized a laptop, a mobile phone, four hard drives and several memory sticks, which are related to the clarified facts and supposedly contain files of child pornography.
Members of the Benemérita, specialized in the Judicial Police and belonging to the Women and Minors Team (EMUME), opened the operation last February when the parent of a minor under 12 years of age reported to the Civil Guard that her daughter had had sexual relations with a man, close to 30 years of age, whom he had met through social networks.
The first steps of the operation allowed the investigators to verify that the now detainee, allegedly, gained the trust of the minor through a social network and got her to send him videos of sexual content.
After the virtual contacts, the man finally convinced the minor to make an in-person appointment in which he had sex with the victim in the case.
The EMUME specialists carried out a series of investigations that made it possible to identify the individual who was behind an anonymous profile on a popular social network.
As a result of the investigation, the civil guards located the suspect, who was arrested. During this action, the EMUME troops also intervened in the vehicle where, allegedly, the meeting with the minor had taken place, which was examined by members of the Criminalistics Service of the Civil Guard to search for evidence related to the events, which they are being analysed.
The exploitation phase of the operation culminated with the entry and search of the detainee’s home, where the civil guards seized various technological material -such as a laptop, a mobile phone, four hard drives and several memory sticks-, on in which an exhaustive analysis is being carried out and in which the existence of files containing child pornography has been detected.
Although the Civil Guard has closed the operation related to the victim, it continues with the open investigation, since the existence of more victims is not ruled out. The detainee, the seized effects and the proceedings have been made available to the Investigating Court of San Javier (Murcia).
