The National Police have arrested a 57-year-old man in Jerez as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of animal abuse after violently causing the death of a dog on public roads that a 12-year-old girl was walking.
As reported by the National Police this Wednesday, neighbors and passers-by alerted a few days ago that a man was kicking a dog on public roads and upon arrival the agents were able to observe the mother and daughter of the family in an obvious state of anxiety next to the already lifeless body of the dog.
The animal showed obvious symptoms of having suffered a very recent violent death and the agents obtained the testimonies of the witnesses, who agreed that the 12-year-old girl was walking the family dog ??with the permission of her parents on Bulería street. , corner with Plaza del Cante Jondo.
At one point, the alleged perpetrator of the events would have left a doorway in the area, jumping at once the three steps that separate that doorway from the sidewalk and at that moment slightly tripping over the leash with which the girl was holding the dog, but without ever falling.
The individual would have suddenly responded violently, giving the dog strong kicks in the belly area without the minor being able to react, for which the animal was badly injured and the male continued with the aggression and finished off the animal by stomping on the area of the head and neck.
The agents arrested the individual, who had 17 prior records, as the alleged perpetrator of an aggravated crime of animal abuse, being admitted to the jail area until he was heard in a statement by the Judicial Authority on Duty.
This crime is included in article 337 of the Penal Code and that in this case the aggravated type will be applied with prison sentences of 6 to 18 months, special disqualification from 2 to 4 years for the exercise of a profession, trade or trade that is related to with the animals and for their possession.
