3 young people arrested for trying to steal a man's shoes by the "mataléon" method

Agents from the Central Security Police Station have arrested three young people on Juanelo street with Mesón de Paredes, in Lavapiés, for trying to take away a man’s belongings using the “mataleón” method, which consists of strangling the victim from behind to to lose consciousness and thus be able to rob him.

The events occurred this Tuesday after 7:00 p.m. when the agents patrolling the area heard the screams of the victim a few meters away and went to the scene, sources from the Municipal Police have informed Efe.

The man had escaped and was running towards the officers yelling “Police, they want to rob me” while the three youths followed him, who were later detained.

The victim told them that the attackers wanted to seize the belongings she was carrying in two bags, branded shoes and a perfume, valued at 90 euros each.

The detainees had asked him for a euro and, after answering that he did not have one, he had noticed how one of them hooked him by the neck, while another tripped him and the third gave support.

Finally, he managed to get out and began to run, trying to dial 112.
