A 19-year-old man told police he was shot in both of his legs “for no apparent reason” as he was walking on the East Side late Sunday.

Officers responded to the shooting around 11:45 p.m. at West Cesar E. Chavez Boulevard and South Pecos Street after the victim’s mother waived down officers while trying to transport him to a downtown hospital.

According to a preliminary report of the shooting, the victim said he was walking down W.W. White Road to a nearby store when he was shot in both of his legs “for no apparent reason.”

Police say he gave “very limited information about the shooting.”

After he was shot, a friend picked up the victim and transported him to Walters and Interstate 35, where he was retrieved by his mother and taken downtown.

First responders then transported the victim to San Antonio Military Medical Center.

Police are currently investigating the shooting.
