Creatura, Elena Martín’s drama about female sexuality, won the Gaudí award for best film last night. The film, written by Martín in four hands with Clara Roquet, tells the story of Mila, who settles in her family home in Empordà with her boyfriend. The girl tries to make sex special, but she has problems achieving pleasure. Oriol Pla, who plays Mila’s partner, tells her that he feels like he is not a man and little by little they distance themselves from her, which causes even more anxiety in the girl.

The film, which screened at Cannes and won the award for best European film in the Directors’ Fortnight section, also won recognition for Martín as best director at yesterday’s gala. In addition, the film earned Clàudia Malagelada the Gaudí award for best breakthrough performance, her co-star Clara Segura the award for best supporting actress, and Alex Brendemühl the award for best supporting actor.
