Justice is investigating five people for a crime of animal abuse and abandonment in Pontevedra for allegedly participating in acts committed against a cow, which was tied to a tree with a rope so that large dogs could attack it, according to reports by the Guard Civil.
Specifically, the Nature Protection Service (Seprona) of the Caldas de Reis barracks (Pontevedra) learned on May 11 that a veterinarian had had to euthanize a cow that was in a dying state, after of being mistreated at a point in the Pontevedra municipality of Campo Lameiro.
The evidence collected by Seprona suggests that the animal had been tied to a tree to be attacked by large dogs, because the bovine had bite marks on its neck.
The investigations allowed to obtain a video in which the suspicions of the investigators are confirmed. The recording shows how a group of young people, between the ages of 19 and 31 and residing in Campo Lameiro, Vigo and Moraña, dedicated themselves to observing how large dogs attacked the cow with bites.
Once identified, the five alleged perpetrators of these events must answer before the Caldas de Reis court for a possible crime of animal abuse and abandonment.
