A gastronomic proposal is causing a sensation in Barcelona among lovers of unusual flavors and experiments in the culinary field. These are donuts that, far from sticking to the sweet tradition, opt for fillings that challenge any prejudice: pork cheek, Palamós prawns and oxtail are just some of the options that Esther Martínez, through a video on TikTok has shared, showing the world an incredible experience that redefines the concept of this popular mass.
The initiative comes from Cirqloo, an establishment located on Aribau Street, which has decided to break the mold by introducing these salty donuts. “Salty and filled donuts? It’s a reality and we have found it in Cirqloo,” Martínez describes in his video, inviting everyone to discover these flavors that, at first glance, may seem inconceivable in a donut.
What makes this proposal especially attractive is the meticulous elaboration of each piece. According to Martínez, “I couldn’t imagine it until I tried it. Manel prepared it for me as we would do it at home. Micro 40 seconds, a couple of minutes in salamander and 40 seconds plus its corresponding sauce, in this case the one that accompanies the prawns.”
The innovation does not stop at the main ingredients that make up the donut, but extends to the accessories, such as the homemade sauce that accompanies the Palamós shrimp donut. As the tiktoker explained, this sauce is made by reducing the juice from the shrimp heads and then you just have to pour it on top.
The reception of these filled donuts has been so positive that customers not only come to try them, but also take some home to eat in peace.
However, despite the young woman’s testimony, users who have seen the video have not been too convinced by these special donuts. While some have assured that it is a “very original” format, another has assured that they “do not see” that this concept can work, since they are totally different things. Another has lamented the price: “Wow, 8 bucks.”
