This concept is not exclusive to humans, as demonstrated by the following video posted by @En_jupiter_ on fish. With a tender gesture, the dog tries to help the little fish by gently touching it with his paw, showing his sincere desire to assist the creature in distress. However, to his chagrin, the fish lies inert, already lifeless.
Although the outcome is not as expected, this act of compassion on the part of the dog is deeply moving. He tried to help the fish although his efforts were unsuccessful.
