Hermitages, cellars, the medieval vestiges of a castle or Escaladei are part of the itinerary proposed by Terrer, the festival that combines music, wine and unique settings to reclaim the Priorat. The concerts of Raül Refree and Carles Viarnès, last weekend in the monumental charterhouse in the process of restoration, will be followed next Saturday by Carla Motis and Belén Bandera, in the hermitage of Romanesque origin of Las Pinyeres, in El Masroig .

Terrer’s appointments bring together a heterogeneous public made up of winegrowers from the area, wine lovers and some tourists, thus fulfilling the double purpose of bringing culture closer to the residents of remote enclaves and of publicizing the Priorat region and its products to people who come from abroad.

Refree, whose resume also includes having produced artists such as the American Lee Ranaldo or the Catalans Rosalía and Silvia Pérez Cruz, poured all his energy into the Escaladei monastic compound on Saturday, at the foot of the Montsant mountain range. Together with Núria Andorra, on vibraphone and percussion, the versatile artist presented his latest work, El espacio entre, for the first time. There are about fifteen small-format concerts, with between 150 and 250 attendees, which facilitate the subsequent pairing with wines from the Priorat and Montsant designations of origin.

The post-concert environment favors meetings and chats between friends, which this weekend revolved around the impact of the extreme drought suffered by the vineyard, which will inevitably reduce production considerably.

The spaces chosen by the organizers are one of the highlights of the Terrer. As its director, Blai Rosés, explains, once the settings have been decided, be it in an open-air vineyard, in a small theater or in a hermitage, the artistic proposal that best fits is studied. “Except for the Escaladei or the L’Artesana de Falset theater, which are fixed, we try not to repeat locations,” says Rosés.

The call for next Saturday, in the Pinyeres of El Masroig, will start with the jazz proposal of the duo made up of the singer Belén Bandera and the guitarist Carla Motis, accompanied by the double bassist Horacio Fumero, and will culminate with the Mallorcan group Da Souza. Attendees will be able to taste the reds and whites from around fifteen wineries in the D.O. Montsant.

After a tour of several towns in the Priorat to delve into the culture of wine, the festival will conclude on December 2 with the performance of Sanjosex
