The loss of a dog is an overwhelming event that plunges its human friends into a sea of ??sadness. These faithful companions, with their unconditional displays of affection, become irreplaceable members of the families, leaving a void that is impossible to fill when they die. The grieving process in these cases can be very hard and not everyone is able to understand it.
It is in this context of pain and loss that the moving story of Susana and Fiore, a retired Argentine couple, who experienced the deep pain of losing Catita, their beloved dog, is set. The family, in an attempt to help these grandparents, wanted to bring them a dachshund puppy to Rome.
The story has been made known through a video on TikTok, a platform on which Ornella, the couple’s granddaughter, has shared the emotional moment in which her grandparents discover the surprise. The clip captures the moment in which Susana and Fiore meet the dachshund puppy who will fill the void left by Catita. “They are very happy and always remember their Catita,” Ornella confessed in an interview with TN.
The joy and excitement for this new arrival has its origin in a painful experience: Catita’s death during a vacation. Ornella has recounted this event in detail: “Cati died of cardiac arrest in my grandfather’s arms, she was 14 years old.”
The decision to incorporate Roma into the family was an act meticulously planned by the daughters and granddaughters of Susana and Fiore, motivated by the desire to soften the pain that was in the house. For this reason, they chose a puppy that looks very similar physically to her predecessor. “She even has a spot in her eye, she is the same,” she is heard saying in the viral video. Precisely, this fact has not been without criticism.
Some people have commented that the arrival of a new puppy at home, and especially a similar one, does not have to replace anyone. Ornella clarified it in TN: “We explained to them that that was not the idea, but to bring joy to the sadness that Cati’s departure caused them, and that’s how it happened.”
Furthermore, Ornella has told the Argentine media that the family has a great commitment to caring for animals in need, a passion that has translated into the rescue and adoption of numerous dogs over the years: “Puppies have arrived that “They had been abandoned because they were old or had been mistreated.”
