The list of fraudulent oil brands that the Andalusian authorities ask not to consume

The Civil Guard maintains an open investigation for crimes against public health, fraud and against the market and consumers, after having seized 6,400 liters of low-quality oil mixtures that were sold as extra virgin olive oil (EVOO).

At the moment, three people have been arrested and two others are being investigated, as reported in a note by the Seville Command. However, new arrests are not ruled out.

The investigation of the ‘Helianthus’ operation began thanks to the complaint of a consumer in the Brenes barracks (Seville), in which it was explained how after using two bottles of supposed EVOO in a fryer, “a kind of foam” came out that It wasn’t normal.

As a result of this complaint, Seprona agents removed the stocks on December 4 and 5 and proceeded to analyze them, which made it possible to determine that it was another mixture of seed oils with some type of base olive oil. but that did not respond to the labeling it included.

The Department of Health of the Government of Andalusia has asked not to consume fraudulently labeled oils such as “Extra Virgin Olive Oil” or “Mild Olive Oil”, since it is a mixture of other seed oils and lampante oils, of according to the information available.
