The jacket suit surprises as a new trend on the red carpet

The Santa Monica beach hosted the Independent Spirit Awards this past weekend, the last awards ceremony before the Oscars, which will be held next Sunday, March 12. An event in which Hollywood actresses dazzled with their looks that featured the jacket and pants suit.

Cate Blanchett or Aubrey Plaza were some of the guests who opted for the two-piece set to step on the red carpet of the awards, which awarded Michelle Yeoh as best actress and the film All at once everywhere. These were the most outstanding outfits of the evening:

Cate Blanchett opted to follow her style formula of repeating the look on a red carpet. On this occasion, she once again donned the Loewe suit that she premiered in Cannes in 2018 and which stood out for its open cape-like sleeves and its pronounced and slightly puffed shoulder pads.

Aubrey Plaza opted for a crisp black Saint Laurent suit, with a drop-shouldered blazer worn without a shirt or top underneath. She completed her look with red lips and eyeliner to define her look and Mejuri jewelry.

Jamie Lee Curtis also went for suit comfort in a patterned ensemble from Libertine’s Fall 2023 collection. A two-piece that he wore with a black top and black pumps by Manolo Blahnik.

Marisa Tomei wore an original pearl top to accompany her black satin suit, with high-waisted pants and an accordion-style handbag.

Michelle Yeoh, one of the big winners of the night, chose a blue Gucci dress with an asymmetrical neckline with 3D motifs.

Rooney Mara went red in a two-piece from Givenchy’s 1997 collection, complete with a lapel coat and a long skirt with a black hem.

Claire Foy wore a Carolina Herrera design with an original strapless neckline and silver beaded embroidery.

Taylor Russell brought out her most suggestive side in a black Loewe dress, with slits on the abdomen and an original asymmetrical neckline with straps that wrapped around her figure.

Jodie Turner Smith embraced the see-through trend in an Elie Saab minidress with feathers and beading. She was right with her makeup matching the blue and pink of the design.
