Nearly 200 concerts spread over a hundred small towns over seven months, this will be the third edition of the Itinera Parlem Festival, which will be held from April 1 to October 31. A project that seeks to bring music to every corner of the territory with a musical offer that includes jazz, blues, gospel and world music concerts.

“Whoever consumes culture has a better chance of being happy,” says the festival’s director, Marcel Marata, who highlighted the importance of the territorial balance of culture during the festival’s presentation this Friday at Palau Robert. The event has had the musical presence of Big Mama Montse, an artist who will perform at the festival to celebrate 35 years on stage.

The Association of Small Towns of Catalonia highlights the importance of this initiative, created with the aim of ensuring that these territories “cease to be secondary”. In addition to decentralizing culture, the festival also focuses on giving visibility to the rural environments in which the concerts will be held.

After the success of the first editions, the festival continues to bet on a balanced and quality programming. The 200 scheduled concerts will be largely by traveling artists who will take their music from one territory to another. Among these, Barcelona jazz artist Joan Chamorro stands out, who debuts in two duets with Èlia Bastia and Koldo Munné, as well as a tribute to Frank Sinatra with Marc Martí and Edu Ferrer.

The Barcelona singer-songwriter Sílvia Comes also performs for the first time at the festival, and she does so with a proposal that will review the songs that have marked the fight for equality. In the field of blues, the presence of the aforementioned artist from Sant Quirze de Besora, Big Mama Montse, stands out. Big Mama’s performances will have a repertoire mainly based on her own compositions that the artist recovers with renewed rhythms.

The festival will once again feature proposals from previous editions, such as the Swingtònics trio with La Locomotora Negra 50 años; Joe Psalmist

The success of the initiative, in addition to having led them to receive the Impulsa! 2021 for its work against deruralization from culture, has made the festival expand outside of Catalonia. This year’s edition has managed to reach small towns in Occitania, Sardinia, the Canary Islands and Castilla La Mancha. The director of the festival says that his goal is for Itinera Parlem to become a global initiative.

The inaugural concerts will be on April 1 and 2, and will be held in eight different counties of the four Catalan provinces, including l’Alt Empordà, Moianès or Tarragonès.
