The incredible transformation of two dogs abandoned due to their malformations after being rescued

A Turkish animal shelter called Ankara Gari Pleri shared a video a few weeks ago in which they announced that they had found two abandoned dog puppies on a hillside. According to this association, they had been left to their own devices because they had a malformation in their legs that prevented them from walking properly.

As can be seen in the video, despite their young age, the two animals had developed an angular deformity in both front legs. This pathology is more common in large breed dogs or those that grow very quickly. Additionally, these injuries may be due to poor healing after a broken bone or a discrepancy in bone growth.

The rescuers wanted to do something for them and took them to the shelter so that, at least, they would be safe and with someone who could take care of them. With time and veterinary interventions, the dogs have managed to move forward and grow with straight and fully functional legs.

In an update on Ankara Gari Pleri’s social media you can see how the two brothers have improved a lot. They have had to go through a tough recovery process but it has been worth it because now they can walk, run and play without any pain.

The elbow deformity that causes dogs to have their feet turned inward and their elbows turned outward can be corrected in different ways, depending on how severe it is. Sometimes just giving them pain medicine and adjusting how and how much they exercise can be enough. But if the problem is more serious and the dog is very uncomfortable or cannot move well, as is the case with Turkish puppies, surgery may be necessary.

In surgery, the veterinarian may make cuts in the bones to accommodate them properly and use plates or screws to hold everything in place while it heals. After the operation, the dog will need to rest and possibly do physical therapy to move well again.
