The year 2022 that we left behind a few months ago marked a return to normality, now without the restrictions in movie theaters marked by the Covid pandemic. And in the midst of a hangover of awards and lists that categorize the best cinema, the Filmoteca de Catalunya launches one of its most popular and long-awaited cycles of the year, which allows the most outstanding titles of the previous season to be recovered based on consultation with people linked to the world of film criticism and programming and the team from the Film Library directed by Esteve Riambau.

The cycle, which also opens the doors to discover unpublished and difficult-to-access titles, began on April 1 with Drive my car, directed by the Japanese Ryusuke Hamaguchi and Oscar for best international film in 2022, and will bring us titles such as Pacificction, by Albert Serra; the acclaimed Aftersun, Charlotte Wells’ debut feature; The Worst Person in the World, by Norwegian Joachim Trier; Return to Reims (Fragments), by Jean-Gabriel Périot; In front of you, by South Korean Hong Sang-Soo; Future Crimes, by David Cronenberg; What do we see when we look at the sky?, by Alexandre Koberidze; Nope, by Jordan Peele; Corsage (The Rebel Empress), by Marie Kreutzer; The Event, by Audrey Diwan and One Year, One Night, by Isaki Lacuesta.

The programming will continue in May with Licorice Pizza, by Paul Thomas Anderson; Alcarràs, by Carla Simón; James Gray’s Armageddon Time; The water, by Elena López Riera; Close, by Lukas Dhont, and the selection of previously unreleased films that have not been released in our theaters, such as Mutzenbacher, by Ruth Beckermann; Geographies of Solitude, by Jacqueline Mills; Aftersun by Lluís Galter; Mato Seco in Chamas, by Adirley Queirós and Joana Pimenta; Above the Clouds, by María Aparicio; Skazka / Fairytale, by Aleksandr Sokurov, and A film about couples, by Natalia Cabral and Oriol Estrada.
