The new Mar d’Estiu festival will be held in the La Llàntia space, between Santa Susanna and Pineda de Mar (Maresme), and will host, from August 3 to 18, a program with Malú, Rozalén, Ara Malikian, Sergio Dalma and Mushkaa and The Tyets, among its highlights.
The contest is heir to the Arts d’Estiu, which last year was to celebrate its twelfth edition on the PIns beach in Pineda de Mar and was not held because the Department of Territory did not authorize it. Judit Llimós, artistic director of the festival, explained that the contest was born with the spirit of being multifaceted with proposals for all audiences.
The project is the commitment of the municipalities of Santa Susanna and Pineda de Mar, and is managed by the promoter The Project. The call will take place in the La Llàntia de Santa Susanna space, near the municipality of Pineda de Mar.
The organizers highlighted that it is very close to the train station, with nearby bus lines and accessible parking areas. They also stressed that the concerts will end at 11 p.m. to allow residents to reconcile leisure and rest, in addition to facilitating the return trip by public transport.
Tito Ramoneda, from The Project, has explained that they propose a cycle festival that is absolutely respectful towards the population itself, the identity that both Santa Susanna and Pineda have. “We propose a festival that is tolerant in this sense with schedules that are acceptable to everyone and we want to encourage all the residents of the two towns.”
Ojete Calor will inaugurate the cycle on August 3, giving way to a program that will run until August 18 with names such as Luz Casal, Ara Malikian, Sopa de Cabra, Los Secretos, Malú, Sergio Dalma, Juan Magán, Antoñito Molina, God Save The Queen, Rozalén, Mushkaa and The Tyets.
The festival will also have a Village space for small-format performances and a leisure area. It will include programming with Catalan, emerging proposals and women’s voices. There will also be space for gastronomy and kilometer zero products.
“We all have a challenge because it will be a year where we will all be supervised and we must do things very well and try not to create problems in the environment,” remarked the mayor of Santa Susanna, Joan Campolier.
The 12th edition of the Summer Arts Festival did not take place last year. The Department of Territory of the Generalitat did not authorize its celebration on the Pins beach in Pineda de Mar. Sources from the Department explained that the organization of the event presented an acoustic impact study, necessary to receive the permits, after the deadline and that it did not did not meet the requirements nor did it contain corrective measures for the impact. In addition, several residents of the area had reported irregularities to the Prosecutor’s Office.
