The Quirónsalud Hospital in Málaga received a very special visit this Thursday. Santa Claus and his dogs have arrived at the center with a view to making their patients smile. The objective? Bring these animals closer to those admitted through the ‘Footprints and Smiles’ campaign

The elves who accompanied Santa Claus had the presence of Edu García, a young man who participated in the Transhumant Adventure after overcoming cancer; as well as Andrés Olivares, president of the Olivares Foundation.

Likewise, the children admitted to the Quirónsalud Hospital have been able to deliver their letters to Santa Claus, whose sleigh has been guided by a pack of dogs, in one of the most special days of the year.

The initiative has been created with a view to providing emotional support and improving the mood of patients, especially the youngest ones, so that the dogs’ visit is a unique moment in their lives.

The Dingonatura Foundation, a non-profit entity that works for the inclusion of companion animals in society, has been in charge of carrying out this initiative for years.

Manuel Calvo, director of the foundation, points out: “The connection with dogs does not only imply companionship; throughout history, they have been our allies for survival, responsibility and protection, also giving us joy and well-being. These faithful colleagues, in addition, are an immense support for those patients who need more affection.
