The emotional moment in which a dog caresses a dolphin and thanks it with a kiss

The love of a dog is a wonderful and surprising thing, capable of crossing species boundaries in unexpected ways. They do not limit themselves to showing affection towards humans and other dogs, but can also form special bonds with very different animals. This ability speaks to the deep empathy and broad hearts of our canine friends.

A great example of this phenomenon is a video of just 21 seconds that has captured the hearts of millions of viewers since its publication in 2012. The scene, taken from a documentary about dolphins, shows a moment as unexpected as it is adorable: a wild dolphin that He comes out of the water to kiss a dog.

The scene is part of the IMAX movie Dolphins, a masterpiece produced by MacGillivray Freeman Films, the same geniuses behind the One World One Ocean campaign. This initiative seeks to use the power of film and digital media to raise awareness about the importance of caring for our oceans.

In the video fragment a man and a woman appear in a boat on the high seas accompanied by two dogs. Suddenly, a pair of curious dolphins approach. The dogs, visibly excited and wagging their tails, show no fear. On the contrary, they seem fascinated by these new aquatic friends. One of the dogs even ventures to extend its paw, as if trying to touch one of the dolphins.

But the contact between dogs and dolphins does not end there. Even more surprisingly, one of the dolphins gets close enough to plant a kiss on the dog’s snout after the man, using only gestures, indicated to the dolphin that he could be affectionate with his new four-legged friend.

To top it off, the kissing dolphin celebrates the kiss by jumping out of the water as if it were deeply happy. And so, in the middle of the ocean, a friendship is formed between very different species, demonstrating that curiosity and affection know no natural limits.
