Hundreds of dogs are waiting to be adopted from shelters. However, not everyone is lucky enough to find a host family. These dogs have no choice but to spend their days in these centers, where they receive the affection of volunteers, veterinarians and supporters.

They are all loved, judging by the emotional farewell letter from a veterinarian from Ibiza to Zeus, a dog who had been hospitalized for eight years. Miguel Quiñones Rey, specialist at the Sa Coma Animal Protection Center, wanted to publicly say goodbye to the animal with whom he shared hundreds of moments.

“After more than eight years sharing with you almost every day. And everything becomes very strange, I don’t even know if I will find words,” he writes in a post on his Instagram profile.

Quiñones only has words of gratitude for the dog: “If it weren’t for you, for what you came to teach me, I don’t know if I would be where I am or if I would continue doing what I do. You changed everything, you helped me see beyond, I learned the little I can help others with you and that is why there can never be another like you.”

The vet recognizes that it will be very hard to go to the center and not find him there. “Today, looking at your compound without you, I have been aware of how happy it made my life to see you appear every day, to see you run towards me. And I have a wealth of emotions because you deserved another life, one in which I would never have had to be. “But I appreciate every second I’ve spent with you. It’s a complicated dilemma,” he acknowledges.

Zeus has taught him a lot: “You made the world stop and look at you and you looked back at it, untamed, defiant. And of all the people on this planet, I don’t really know why, you chose me to teach me everything.” love that you were hiding.”

And Quiñones ends by thanking him for taking care of me all these years. “I will always love you, I will always miss you, I will always take you with me. Have a good trip my friend,” he concludes.
