During the summer months, the alternative offer to traditional cinemas is expanded to enjoy good cinema. Nights al fresco in unique spaces such as the Castell de Montjuïc or the Mies van der Rohe Pavilion, which schedule cycles for all lovers of the seventh art. From the latest releases to the great classics, they are screened in different venues in Barcelona and its metropolitan area.

MONTJUÏC ROOM

Monday, Wednesday and Friday until August 4

Once again, the Castell de Montjuïc presents its cinema al fresco with a program of 16 sessions, including classics from the last century such as Fargo, E.T. the extraterrestrial or the indiscreet window; and recent international premieres such as The Quiet Girl, The Fabelmans or All at once everywhere. All the films are screened in their original version and, before each screening, the public can enjoy a small live concert. The festival has a gastronomic offer and a sun lounger rental.

FREE CINEMA ON THE BEACH

Until August 10

This beach film initiative began 12 years ago with a first edition on the beach of Sant Sebastià (Barcelona). Currently, films that have recently been on the billboard are being screened, free of charge, on different beaches on the Catalan and Majorcan coast, in towns such as Sitges or El Prat de Llobregat. Before each film there is a music session by iCat and the projection of a short film.

SUMMER SCREENINGS – SYMPHONY OF THE CITY

From July 26 to August 27

The CCCB presents seven films made last year by women filmmakers, both emerging and established, that portray the Metropolitan Area of ??Barcelona. A project, produced by the CCCB and with the collaboration of the Dones Visuals collective, which aims to analyze the urban space through the personal perspectives and the itinerary followed by each of the filmmakers. All screenings will take place in the Hall free of charge.

PAVILION SCREEN (MIES VAN DER ROHE FOUNDATION)

August 7th and September 4th

On the occasion of the appointment of the city of Copenhagen as World Capital of Architecture 2023, the director of the Architecture Festival of this city, Josephine Michau, presents, at the Mies Van der Rohe Foundation, the Blue Diversity cycle, with three films set in seas and oceans to talk about biodiversity, and our conception and management of water.

SUMMER FESTIVAL 2023 (DIAGONAL MAR)

As part of the eighth edition of the Summer Festival 2023, organized by the Diagonal Mar shopping center with different activities such as concerts or the recording of a live podcast, four great classics are scheduled to be shown: E.T., Top Gun, Jurassic Park and Grease in Terrassa del Mar. Admission is free with the Diagonal Mar VIP card (also free) and the public can order take-away dinner in the restaurants.

Once again, CosmoCaixa organizes new theme nights dedicated to the Earth and the universe with afternoon and evening sessions full of activities for all audiences: workshops, experiments, open-air cinema, monologues, etc. With the ticket for the night session (9 euros), from 9:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., you will be able to access all the activities, which includes the cinema sessions.

The open-air cinema of the Canòdrom (at Concepció Arenal street, 165) returns every Friday in July with free admission and a cinema with a desire for social transformation. The outdoor short film cycle organized by the Barcelona International Short Film and Animation Festival (Mecal) is back. Every Friday in summer, in the Jardins d’ Elisava and in the Clot park. Admission is free, but you will not be able to access with food or drink.

BARCELONA SCREEN

Barcelona’s civic centers host the tenth edition of Pantalla Barcelona, ??promoted by Icub with the Catalan Cinema Academy. A total of seven films will be rotating through the different centers with local audiovisual productions such as Innocence or We will not kill each other with guns. The sessions are free and complete with the music of DJ Dani Kongo.

The Finestrelles shopping center, in Esplugues de Llobregat, organizes the second edition of its open-air movie nights on the terrace, from May to September. A total of 18 movies.

A different and exclusive proposal is that of the El Palace Barcelona hotel, which offers a film series on its rooftop: five classic films every week. Admission is priced at €33 per person or €50 for a double pack and includes popcorn and a cocktail made by the bartender.
