The captain's grill: this is the personalized barbecue with which Leo Messi prepares Argentine barbecues in Miami

What’s the best thing that can happen to a couple who has just started a barbecue production business? Well, let Leo Messi order you a personalized grill. Asado is part of the Argentine gastronomic culture, something that El Astro is not going to give up despite his establishment in the United States after signing for Inter Miami. In fact, Messi craved this barbecue made in Argentina after Labohierro sent one to a colleague of his in Miami, according to the company itself in a video published on TikTok.

Messi set a few requirements before Guillermo – that’s the name of the owner of the business – got to work: that it be large and made of stainless steel “so that it would remain forever.” After the initial shock, the six employees of this small company based in San Miguel (Buenos Aires) went on to manage the order and consult the details of the design with Antonela Rocuzzo herself, the wife of the captain of the Argentine national team. They both teamed up to design, in parallel, a very special gift.

Messi’s grill is a customization of the Full Chiqui Portable model from Labohierro. You can see in the video how Guillermo proposes to Antonela to adapt this portable barbecue, ideal for grilling anywhere, without losing the essence of the Argentine grill. It is a compact model for 4 people that “every compatriot should have”, as indicated on its website. Now, this has become the economical version of The Capi Grill: it costs 408,500 Argentine pesos (about 450 euros), a little more if you want to buy the Messi customization. Although the original is black, Messi’s is covered in stainless steel.

The customization of the Labohierro portable grill does not lack detail. It includes, of course, the Messi silhouette with the shirt with the number 10, as well as three stars, in allusion to the victory of the Argentine team during the 2022 Soccer World Cup. The names of his wife are also engraved on his legs. (Antonela) and those of her children (Thiago, Mateo and Ciro).

This request has meant a round marketing action for Labohierro that is now dismantled in this TikTok video. The company has taken the opportunity to thank “the greatest of all” for his trust in “this humble workshop full of dreams and illusions.” Without a doubt, the captain’s grill could synthesize a good part of the Argentine idiosyncrasy in a single object.
