The amazing calçots croissant that you can try for a few months in Barcelona

At the La Esquina pastry shop in Barcelona they specialize in creative and surprising creations. This past Lardero Thursday, for example, they made egg sausage and caramelized onion croissants. And for Kings, Jägermeister roscón, a sweetened herbal liqueur.

In this oven on Dos de Maig street, next to the Sant Pau Hospital, they make special croissants of all kinds, both sweet and savory. Honey and cottage cheese, mango, lemon pie, chestnuts, mascarpone and quince, etc. But surely the most striking creation is the calçots croissant. They did it for the first time last winter, and now they have done it again.

This artisan croissant is made with carbon-colored butter and has a grilled calçot on top. Está bien relleno with romesco sauce and triturated calçots in the oven.

If you are not afraid of the invention, try it at the La Cantonada pastry shop on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, while the calçots season lasts. Its prices are 3.70 euros.
