The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (Aesan) has warned “of the presence of a foreign body in a chocolate bar from the Hacendado brand”, marketed by the Mercadona supermarket chain.
Specifically, it is Lot I23325M1 with “best before date 05/2025 for 72% Dark Chocolate with Almonds” from Imperial, which has apologized to customers for the “inconveniences caused.”
The Valencian supermarket chain clarifies that the “foreign body” detected by the health authorities corresponds to “visible” plastic remains in the units of the aforementioned batch.
After being notified in the Coordinated System for Rapid Information Exchange (SCIRI), the state agency has advised against its consumption and has reported that the “distribution company has withdrawn the affected products from points of sale.”
For its part, in a statement, Mercadona assures that, “applying the precautionary principle”, it will withdraw the batch of affected product from its establishments. In addition, it will offer its customers that, “if they so wish, they can return it to their nearest store where the amount will be refunded.”
