The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 is in full swing, with the Super 8 stage just around the corner. The Super 8 stage will feature the top two teams from each group, including powerhouses like India, USA, Australia, Afghanistan, West Indies and South Africa. The remaining two spots in the Super 8 stage will be filled by either England or Scotland from Group B and Bangladesh or Netherlands from Group D.
The Super 8 stage is divided into two groups, Group 1 and Group 2, with each group consisting of four teams. The teams will play three matches against their opponents in the same group, with the top two from each group advancing to the semi-finals.
For the first time, the ICC has introduced pre-tournament seedings, which will determine the fixtures in advance and reduce the influence of first-round standings. The top eight teams, including India, Pakistan, England, Australia, New Zealand, West Indies, South Africa, and Sri Lanka, have been pre-seeded based on the T20I rankings. These seedings will be retained for the Super 8 round, ensuring exciting matchups throughout the stage.
The Super 8 matches are scheduled to take place from June 19 to June 25, with the semi-finals set for June 26 and 27 in Trinidad and Tobago & Guyana, and the final on June 29 in Barbados. Reserve days have also been scheduled for both the semi-finals and the final to account for any unforeseen circumstances.
India’s Super 8 matches include clashes against Australia, Afghanistan, and either Bangladesh or the Netherlands. The matches are set to take place at various venues, promising thrilling encounters for cricket fans. Additionally, the fate of England, Scotland, Bangladesh, and the Netherlands will be decided by June 16, with teams battling it out for a spot in the Super 8 stage.
