In the world of hospitality, where workers must multitask and pay attention to many aspects at the same time, it is common to face peculiar situations related to customer payments. Sometimes, these anecdotes can have unexpected and even curious outcomes.

Recently, the story of some customers who forgot to pay their bill at a bar was revealed, generating some concern in the establishment. According to the Soy Camarero account on social networks, these customers had breakfast at the premises but, due to a mistake, they left without paying the bill at the cashier. However, they surprised the staff by paying off their debt almost two weeks later.

In a note sent to the affected bar, the customers acknowledged their oversight and expressed their intention to correct it. “We had a very good breakfast on January 13 and we forgot to pay,” they expressed in the letter. In addition, they attached 10 euros to compensate for the forgetfulness and apologized for not having made the payment sooner.

Although it took 13 days to do so, the customers’ gesture was well received by the establishment. However, it is important to remember that failure to pay at a location can have more serious legal consequences. The National Police warns that the act of leaving without paying for what was consumed may constitute a crime of fraud, subject to fines and even prison sentences, depending on the amount owed.

According to the Penal Code, not paying a bill of up to 400 euros is considered a scam or minor crime, but if this amount is exceeded and there is repetition of the behavior, it can be considered a serious crime of fraud.

In these situations, establishments can implement security measures, such as the curious strategy of a well-known bar in Belgium that requires a shoe as collateral to enter and returns it only when paying the bill.
