“I’m going to teach you how to make the perfect white rice with 7 tricks,” he begins by saying in his video. Below, we break down these tips that promise to transform the way you cook this staple.

@recetacubana’s first trick is to start with a little oil in the pot. For those who want an extra touch of flavor, he recommends adding garlic, onion, or both. “Stir-frying or scoring the rice is key to a loose, fluffy grain,” he explains. 

If you decide to wash the rice, @recetacubana advises doing it gently and up to three times, or until the water runs clear. “It is crucial to drain the rice well and repeat the process until the grains are translucent,” she says. This method ensures that the rice is less sticky and more separated at the end of cooking.

The water ratio is the next vital trick. @recetacubana suggests using one and a half measures of water or two for each measure of rice, depending on the desired texture and how airtight the pot lid is. “Adding hot or boiling water makes a big difference,” he says, noting that cold water can make the rice stickier.

Finally, the cooking process must be precise. @recetacubana instructs you to wait for the water to come to a boil before covering and cooking over very low heat for 18-20 minutes. When finished, it is crucial not to stir the rice immediately; Waiting about five minutes is the final touch to ensure perfection. With these seven tricks, achieving perfect white rice is within everyone’s reach.
