Last week in the San Diego area, authorities seized over 200 pounds of drugs in three separate incidents. The first incident took place during immigration checkpoint operations on Interstate 5 near San Clemente on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m. U.S. Customs and Border Protection discovered 144 pounds of cocaine hidden in four duffle bags in the trunk of a vehicle. The drugs, along with the driver and passenger, were handed over to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department for prosecution.
The second drug seizure occurred on Wednesday at 1 p.m. near Temecula Parkway on Interstate 15. Authorities stopped and searched a suspicious sedan, uncovering 22.5 pounds of fentanyl wrapped in plastic inside the vehicle’s speaker box. The driver, vehicle, and drugs were transferred to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department for further investigation and legal action.
The third incident happened on Friday at 1:30 p.m. on Interstate 5, where border agents found 30 packages in a duffle bag containing a total of 73.8 pounds of cocaine. The driver, passenger, vehicle, and narcotics were all handed over to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department for prosecution.
