These days the filming of a new season of the German series produced by Netflix, ‘Der Barcelona Krimi’, is taking place in the city. The well-known series, with 5 seasons released, returns to the streets of Santa Coloma, converted for a few days into the scene of police intrigues and action scenes.

In recent years, Santa Coloma de Gramenet has been climbing positions in the select list of cities with the highest number of film and advertising shoots in all of Catalonia, since its City Council joined the Catalunya Film Commission in November 2020, the service public of the Generalitat that offers a wide directory of locations especially intended for accredited companies and professionals in the audiovisual sector.

Coinciding with this accession, the Coloma City Promotion and Tourism service launched a series of measures in order to encourage the audiovisual industry to come to Santa Coloma and stand out among the rest of the options as a ‘city for roll’.

Currently, 36 locations are offered, both outdoors and in buildings, to cover the possible needs of different production companies. According to data from the Department of Culture of the Generalitat, Santa Coloma currently occupies number 10 in the ranking of Catalan municipalities in number of filmings.

These same data show the following figures: during the year 2021, 14 filmings were carried out, 18 the following year, 2022, and in 2023 there was a marked decrease caused by the scriptwriters’ strike and the different electoral calls, with 6 filmings carried out so far.

Among the facilities and advantages that the city of Santa Coloma de Gramenet offers to potential interested parties is the variety and novelty of its scenarios, the speed in managing permit processing, the transversal collaboration of the different municipal departments and the containment in the cups.

On the other hand, we cannot forget the impact on the local economic fabric of the presence of both national and international productions, as is the case of the Netflix platform that has filmed on different occasions in the streets of the city. From the competent department, agreements are reached with the interested parties for the contracting of auxiliary services in exchange for exemptions in some fees, as well as extras from local theater schools, catering served by local restaurants, lighting, control personnel, etc. . The result is that some of these productions have had an impact of more than 7,000 euros per day, which has benefited the economy of companies, individuals and entities in Cologne.

The forecast for 2024 is optimistic, declare municipal officials, who have already received various requests for the streets, buildings and places of Santa Coloma to once again become an attractive set for their filming.
