A San Diego-based company called 100Percent has decided to implement a four-day workweek for its employees after a successful five-month trial period. The company, located at 10792 Roselle St. in Sorrento Valley, will now operate from Monday through Thursday for 32 hours.

Specializing in eyewear and technical apparel, 100Percent noticed a significant increase in productivity, communication, collaboration, and focus among its employees during the trial period. Workers also reported experiencing improved physical and mental health, higher job satisfaction, and a better work-life balance.

CEO and Co-founder of 100Percent, Ludo Boinnard, expressed his satisfaction with the new policy, stating that the company has found a way to maintain high levels of creativity and productivity without the risk of burnout common in the competitive industry. He emphasized the importance of employees enjoying time outdoors, especially in an industry focused on outdoor activities.

Boinnard mentioned that many employees take advantage of the extra day off to engage in physical activities, such as riding moto or mountain bikes on Fridays when the trails are less crowded. This enables them to spend quality time with their families during the extended weekend.

The company’s headquarters in Sorrento Valley has been upgraded to include improved bathrooms, a modern kitchen, and a private fitness center. In addition to the San Diego location, 100Percent also has offices in France. Despite the change in work schedule, employees will continue to receive full compensation and benefits as part of the permanent adoption of the four-day workweek policy.

This shift towards a shorter workweek reflects a growing trend among companies seeking to prioritize the well-being and work-life balance of their employees. By allowing for more time off and flexibility, businesses like 100Percent are recognizing the importance of employee satisfaction and overall happiness in driving success and productivity. The implementation of a four-day workweek not only benefits the employees but also contributes to a positive work culture and increased job performance.
