Raúl Miguel Revilla, from the Madrid restaurant Zalacaín, has received the National Award for the best Sommelier 2023 awarded by the Royal Academy of Gastronomy (RAG), which recognizes his “impeccable career, his extensive knowledge of the world of wine and his know-how at the helm from a mythical winery”.

As reported by the RAG on Tuesday, yesterday the jury of the National Gastronomy Award for Best Sommelier met, which recognizes the sommelier professional who has carried out the most outstanding work in a restaurant based in Spain in 2023.

Raúl Miguel Revilla entered Zalacaín as an apprentice 22 years ago and there “he found the best possible teacher”, highlights the statement, Custodio Zamarra, and at his side he learned all the secrets of the profession.

When Zamarra retired, he took his place in the restaurant as head sommelier, a position he still holds today. Among other awards, he has received the award for Best Sommelier 2020 at the International Academy of Gastronomy Awards.

The 2023 National Gastronomy Awards presentation gala will be held on October 3 at the Reina Sofía National Art Center Museum.
