“We’re demonstrating our solidarity with the courageous Iranian men and women who’ve shown their brave act now by boycotting this sham election in Iran,” said Hamid Gharajeh, together with all the Iran Democratic Association of Canada.
Opinion polls indicate turnout may be as low as 44 percent — well under the 73.3 percent of eligible voters who cast ballots in 2017.
“Individuals have spoken not showing up in the polling station,” explained Gharajeh in the Toronto demonstration.
Simin Voorchi, among the protesters, said showing up to the rally was,”our responsibility.”
“This isn’t an election, but this is a choice,” she explained.
The election had been dominated by Raisi following the disqualification of the strongest competition.
