Since we are little, we are recommended to eat fruit because it is healthy for our body. And, indeed, it is. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends consuming three to five pieces of fruit a day. However, a crucial aspect to keep in mind is that it will always be better if the fruit is fresh and in season.

Fortunately, in Spain we have a wide variety of fruits, so we can follow the WHO recommendation without problems. However, we have to learn to properly preserve the product so that it does not lose its nutritional value.

On many occasions, we cut the fruit and it ends up oxidizing, thus taking on a yellowish color. To avoid this, old tricks have been recommended such as using vinegar or lemon, but recently a TikTok video has gone viral that gives the key to avoiding this problem.

The trick to keeping the cut fruit fresh consists of the following: put the pieces in a container (preferably glass), some wet kitchen paper, and put the pieces of fruit on it. Next, you add another wet paper on top and close it well.

In this way, you ensure that the pieces of fruit retain their intact state. As a last recommendation, you can use lemon juice to further prevent the oxidation of these foods. In addition, it will add a delicious acid flavor to the palate.
