Leaving our pets alone at home is not always easy. There are pets like fish or hamsters that do not require our constant attention, but others like dogs and cats have a worse time without our company. Especially if they are not used to loneliness.
According to the new Animal Welfare Law, pets can spend up to three days alone at home without supervision, while the limit for dogs is 24 hours. Apart from complying with this regulation, it is not the most appropriate for your dog or cat to spend so much time alone on a regular basis.
It is important that we cover their basic requirements for food and water, but also that we provide them with the opportunity to relieve themselves, as well as give them attention, affection and moments of play. If we leave our pet alone at home frequently, due to work, social or other commitments, you must provide them with entertainment to alleviate problems such as boredom, stress, separation anxiety or fear, since all of these sensations usually lead to a bad behavior and mischief on the part of the animal.
