Coffee is a gourmet food, around which a culture has been formed that venerates its benefits. Specialty coffee shops proliferate, where they turn this drink into a true art thanks to the foam of the milk that gives it creaminess and, why not say it, aesthetics. But you don’t have to go to one of these ‘coffee temples’ to enjoy a truly spectacular cup.
If what you like is milk foam, you can make an excellent coffee in your own home, without the need for gadgets such as whisks or frothers. You only need a glass jar and a microwave to put into practice this trick that conquers for its ease and good results.
It doesn’t matter if you are more of an Italian, French, capsule or almost professional espresso machine, what really makes the difference – in addition to choosing a quality coffee – is the flavor and texture of the milk foam. To make it at home, tools have become popular for this purpose, such as electric frothers or whisks that beat the milk until it turns into foam.
But there is a much simpler and cheaper way to do it, without adding another utensil to your kitchen. You will need a glass jar with a lid, like a canning jar. The size will depend on how much milk foam you want to obtain.
Fill the jar with milk halfway and put the lid on. Next, you should shake it vigorously for about 30 seconds. You will observe how the milk forms a foam that increases its volume inside the bottle. Then, remove the lid and put it in the microwave for another half minute at maximum power. This way you will not only heat the milk, but the foam will gain greater consistency. And ready! All that remains is to carefully pour it over your coffee to enjoy it.
