Two hikers, Miguel Delgado, 63, and Ana Rodarte, 40, who were reported missing in Yosemite National Park, have been found alive after a two-day search. The National Park Service (NPS) announced that the hikers were reunited with their families, although it was not immediately clear if they had sustained any injuries during their ordeal.

Delgado and Rodarte had departed from the Bridalveil Creek Campground on Saturday morning for a day hike towards Ostrander Lake, with plans to return a few hours later. However, they did not return as expected, prompting a search operation by park rangers and rescue teams.

The search effort involved 65 ground searchers, four dog search teams, and an aircraft that scoured the area where the hikers were last seen. An aircraft from the California Office of Emergency Services conducted an infrared search on Sunday evening, while California Highway Patrol helicopters also assisted in the search mission.

The Bridalveil Creek Campground, located at an elevation of 7,200 feet, is surrounded by a forest of red fir and lodgepole pine trees. The area offers numerous hiking trails along Glacier Point Road, but visitors are reminded that there are no services available in the vicinity.

This incident highlights the importance of safety protocols while hiking in national parks. It serves as a reminder for hikers to stay on designated trails, inform others of their plans, carry essential supplies, and be prepared for unexpected circumstances.

While the outcome of this search was positive, it underscores the risks associated with venturing into remote wilderness areas. The successful rescue of Delgado and Rodarte is a testament to the dedication and coordination of park officials and search teams in ensuring the safety of park visitors.

As visitors continue to explore the natural beauty of Yosemite National Park and other wilderness areas, it is crucial to prioritize safety, preparedness, and responsible outdoor practices to prevent similar incidents in the future. By following established guidelines and being vigilant while enjoying the great outdoors, hikers can minimize risks and ensure a safe and enjoyable experience in nature.
