The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN) has issued an alert after detecting the presence of an undeclared allergen in some cookies sold in supermarkets.

These are milk proteins, which can trigger allergic reactions in people sensitive to this ingredient. Those people who are not allergic to milk are not at risk when consuming these cookies.

The cookies in question are the María type from the Hacendado brand, which are gluten-free and lactose-free. Mercadona, the owner company, has communicated on its website that it has decided to remove these cookies preventively.

The batch indicated by the Aesan alert corresponds to the one whose best before date is 05/29/2025. These cookies are packaged in plastic, are at room temperature and each unit weighs 205 grams, making it easy to identify them as the affected product.

Aesan was informed of this problem through the Coordinated System for Rapid Information Exchange (Sciri), which received notification of an alert issued by the health authorities of the Valencian Community.

According to available data, the affected products were distributed in Mercadona chain stores. A verification will be carried out to ensure that these products are removed from marketing channels.
