The FBI recently conducted a raid on the Long Island home of Linda Sun, a former aide to New York Gov. Kathy Hochul. The federal agents searched the $3.5 million residence located in a gated community on the North Shore of Long Island. While there is no official accusation of wrongdoing against Sun or her husband, Chris Hu, and no arrests were made, the judge had to approve the search warrant for such a raid, indicating some suspicion of misconduct.
The US Attorney’s Office in Brooklyn obtained the search warrant for the raid, but they have declined to comment on the matter. Sun, who previously served as one of Hochul’s deputy chiefs of staff and also worked under former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, focused on business development, Asian American affairs, and diversity, equity, and inclusion during her time in public service. However, she left her executive chamber role after 15 months and took a job with the New York State Department of Labor in 2022.
It was reported that Sun left public service last year after allegedly being fired due to evidence of misconduct, which was then referred to law enforcement. Sun’s husband operates a liquor store in Queens, where a bottle of wine near the door was said to retail for $700. Efforts to reach the couple for comments were unsuccessful.
The details surrounding the FBI raid on Sun’s home remain unclear, as the agency has not provided specific reasons for targeting the residence. Hochul’s office has not commented on the situation either. It is important to note that Sun and her husband have not been formally accused of any illegal activities at this time.
The circumstances leading to the raid, including the transfer of the home ownership to a trust in March, raise questions about the nature of the investigation. Despite the lack of official charges, the involvement of law enforcement and the search of the couple’s property suggest that there may be more to the story than meets the eye. As the investigation unfolds, more information may come to light regarding the events that led to the FBI’s actions at Sun’s residence.
